The 1954 season saw the team win its last World Series championship (including the San Francisco modern era until their 2010 victory). The 1954 New York Giants World Series Champs Navy T-shirt is a 100% cotton navy blue tee. The retro orange 'NY' symbol is screen printed across the chest and the left sleeve has a retro patch with the address of the old Polo Grounds at the corner of 155th Street & 8th Avenue. The Cooperstown Collection label is also embroidered above the bottom hem. The 1954 World Series was a sweep for the underdog Giants over the Cleveland Indians that recorded a record (for that time) 111 wins that season. The series was most famous for 'the catch' made by Willie Mays in the 8th inning of Game One. Mays ran towards the 450 foot center field fence at the Polo Grounds and caught an amazing over the shoulder basket catch with two men on and none out. Mays then doubled up a runner for the second out and the Giants got out of the inning tied. The Giants went on to win the game and sweep the series over the mighty Indians. Message From The Chairman: Our staff decided that it was time to bring back some really great retro logo tees. The New York Giants iconic interlocking orange 'NY' symbol made famous in the fifties was a must for retro fans. Our staff worked with our supplier to dig up a memorial patch to the Polo Grounds and placed it on the left sleeve of this special tee.
